  1. I would love to locate a copy of the film we made as young students. It was our end of summer project after interning with various professional mentors (dentist, lawyers, news reporters, judge, doctor, educators, etc.) If memory serves correctly, I interviewed students, sang and recited an original poem on the film. I still have my reporters notebook from that WE CARE project, and original copies of City Sceen Newspaper and reporter's ID. Yep,that's right---> kept them for all these years. Sam Walton, Sam Gainer and Joyce (or June) Cleveland were young leaders who spearheaded WE CARE. I will never forget their inpiring leadership. They pushed us to be the BEST!

  2. I held an assignment as teen reporter at City Scene Newspaper. I give honors to Sam Walton, Sam Gainer and Joyce Cleveland, who groomed me well. I interviewed celebrities and local area politicians. It was a great introduction and entry into the "insider knowledge" circle. I gained insight on many levels and wrote about my findings to our community.

In college, my major was Teacher Education and Journalism. My first professional position in the industry was fresh out of college - at Dun & Bradstreet's magazine entitled Dun's Review. I served as an Editorial Assistant and Researcher. I was the first Black professional hired in that capacity at the magazine. I had direct contact with the Editor-in-Chief, the executive staff and writers on a daily basis.

We Care, Inc. was the springboard forward for me and many "young, gifted and Black" teenagers in the Harlem community back in the day. Again, I give kudos to my mentors at City Scene Newspaper.
